2008 Trek 7100

This is my primary ride. I purchased this in the spring of 2008 with my tax return, and it replaced the Mongoose (ie: Wal-Mart Special) that I had purchased back in 2002 that had been stolen. I ordered this through my LBS and had never even ridden one! Of course he let me test ride it before I purchased it just to make sure that it was what I wanted... and it rode like a dream!

It is fairly well stock, but I have made a couple of minor changes to the stock bike. I had a computer installed before I even test rode the bike. This measures speed, distance, time, and so forth.

I also found that I hated the suspension seat post. It sounds great, but after 5 miles or so, it is completely compressed, and offers NO suspension. Then I would have to raise the seat so that I would still be comfortable. Unfortunately, once I finished riding, or if I rested, the post would decompress, and I wouldn't be able to sit on my bike because the post was too high. See the trend? So I finally replaced the seat post this past winter.

So far, this bike has laid tracks in Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia. I hope to add Maryland and Pennsylvania this summer.

As of Easter 2010, it has traveled 506 miles and I have spent a mere 44 hours, 45 minutes of my life on this bicycle. I plan on doubling that number this summer. This Trek should have 1,000 miles by Labor Day.
